Your Ideal Paradise

Content Outcome:
    1. To present descriptive information

Process Outcome:
    1. To demonstrate organizational skills

Task:
The student will create a travel brochure that describes his or her "ideal" vacation spot. An oral presentation of the brochure, the brochure itself, and a written composition will be evaluated.

Design a brochure to attract tourists to your paradise. Since you will be presenting your brochure to the class, consider them as some of your prospective clientele! Follow these directions carefully.

        1. The brochure must be: done in color, contain photographs, pictures or drawings with captions that describe the scenes, include the name of your paradise, include the location.

        2. Since your brochure will be the focus of your presentation, you will naturally be referring to it as you speak. But remember that you are trying to presuade us to visit your paradise through descriptions, so establishing eye contact with your audience is important. In other words, do not read from your brochure!!

        3. The written composition must include the following: a description of the place (4 sentences); a description of the activites that a person will do there (5 sentences), a description of the type of person who would enjoy your paradise ( 3 sentences). Your composition must be type-written, double spaced, and 1/2 to 3/4 page in length (12 pt. type size).

In addition to these criteria, your use of the vocabulary and grammar structure of this lesson will be considered in the evaluation of your project.
