History Paper Assignment Sheet
Assignment:
- Write
a one page paper on one of the following topics.
- Choose
one topic for the subject of the paper.
- Use the
notes from the video, the textbook, notes from student presentations
and your knowledge as sources.
Topics:
- The changing
relationships between fine arts and photography from the 19th century
to the present.
- Photography
as an agent of change in society, then and today.
- Similarities
and differences between pinhole photography and historical photo techniques.
(Cabinet card, ambrotype, calotype, Caguerreotype, etc.)
- Speculate
on the future of photography with reference to time and motion, the
history of color, and the coming of digital photography.

- Give any
necessary technical information about the topic.
- Make sure
to use "user friendly" terms. Don't use words that you don't
understand.
- Any poster
or handout that adds to your presentation is worth 5-10 points extra
credit!
Hints on giving
your presentation:
- Have notes/
notecards but don't just read from them
- Be interested
and others will be too
- Go over
the information at least once before giving your presentation to the
class
- Use your
own words
- Speak
slowly and clearly
- Have visual
aids
- Summarize
your presentation at the end
- Always
ask for questions at the end of a presentation
