Making Enlargements

Standards

  • Use enlargers to produce black and white prints
  • Demonstrate proficiency in photo terminology and equipment
  • Students will identify and analyze processes and problems encountered in photography
  • Students will show responsible care of equipment
  • Students will exhibit efficient time management skills
  • Evaluate photography using the D.I.E. method

    Objectives

  • Learn the tools needed to create an enlargement
  • Learn to create a test strip for a 3x5 enlargement
  • Create a 3x5 enlargement
  • Learn how to evaluate photography both professional and student
  • Learn trouble shooting techniques for creating enlargements

 

Assignments

All assignments and self-evaluation rubrics must be included in the comprehensive binder.

  • Complete a D.I.E. on a photo from the text
  • Create a test strip
  • Create a 3x5 enlargement using your group negatives
  • Complete a journal entry

Making Enlargements Assignment Sheet

Assignment:
Using your group negatives, create a 3x5 enlargement. Create a test strip to get the correct exposure time.

Criteria for your first enlargement:

  • Values - correct exposure time, print has blacks and whites
  • Clarity - print is in focus
  • Print Quality- no spots, scratches, negative care
  • Processed Correctly
