Developing B&W Film

Standards

  • Process black and white film in the classroom
  • Use a manual 35mm camera to take photos
  • Demonstrate proficiency in photo terminology and equipment
  • Students will work effectively with others in small group settings
  • Students will identify and analyze processes and problems encountered in photography
  • Students will show responsible care of equipment

    Objectives

  • Learn how to load film onto the reels and get it into the canister
  • Learn the steps in processing film
  • Learn how to properly care for negatives

 

Assignments

All assignments and self-evaluation rubrics must be included in the comprehensive binder.

  • Read Chapter 6 and complete worksheets
  • Complete worksheet identifying the parts needed to process film
  • Take a quiz on the parts needed to process film
  • Practice getting film on the reel correctly
  • Process film in small groups
  • Complete a journal entry
  • Complete a self-evaluation and a group evaluation

Film Developing Assignment Sheet

Assignment:
In small groups, process your point of view assignment film. Follow the directions on the film developing handout.

 

Criteria

  • Film on the reel correctly
  • Proper order of chemicals
  • Proper times for chemicals
  • Negatives labeled and in sleeves
  • Supplies cleaned and put away
  • All group members participated
