TASK: Buffalo Skin Pictorial Story

DEFINED TASK: Students will use their knowledge of the culture and resources of the Plains Indians to write a buffalo skin pictorial story.

PROCESS:
            1. Make a story web which will include your main character and events for the                 beginning, middle, and end of your story.
            2. Use story web to write a rough draft of your story.
            3. Edit your story- check for complete sentences and correct spelling,                             punctuation / capitalization.
            4. Find a partner to peer edit.
            5. Write a final copy.
            6. Make buffalo skin using Indian symbols to tell your story.
                        a. trace pattern onto brown paper bag and cut out
                        b. brainstorm Indian symbols to represent the main events of  your                                 story
                        c. use a black marker to draw symbols in a circular pattern to tell                                     your story

            7. Tape written story to buffalo skin and turn in.
