You Are The Tour Guide

Task

Description

You are a travel agent and will research a particular city in China, Japan, or India and then design a Power Point presentation to show it off. Using your research, you will design a Power Point tourism presentation guide. This guide will present a city from either China, Japan, or India and will help convince people to visit it. Finally, you will present your city to the class.

Expectations

Your tourism presentation will have three basic parts and must include the following:

A. You will research the following areas:

  1. Where is your country located? Where is your city located?
  2. What is the population of your country? What is the population of your city?
  3. What are the major languages spoken in your country and city?
  4. Identify and explain three historical events that have affected your city.
  5. Identify and explain three major industries that are integral to your city.
  6. What are three major landmarks to visit in your city?
  7. What are two things that you would enjoy doing in the city?
  8. What is a neighboring town or landmark you would visit?
  9. How much would a round trip flight from Chicago cost? Can you fly there directly or must you change planes? Take a train? Rent a car to get there? (American dollars)
  10. Research a hotel you would stay in while visiting the city. Describe the hotel. How much per night will it cost? (in American dollars/local currency)
  11. Research three restaurants you might eat at. Describe each of them. How much would it cost to eat there? (in American dollars/local currency)

B. Power Point Project Guidelines

1.Title Page Slide (1 slide)

  • A title page which names & describes your city & country
  • For example: Tokyo, Japan: A Capital City
  • It also must include your name(s)

2. Map Slide (1 slide)

  • Map of either China, Japan, or India
  • Identify three physical features
  • Identify your city
  • Identify three other cities

3. Basic Information Slide (1 or 2 slides)

  • Location
  • Population
  • Major languages spoken there

4. City Slides (about 8 slides)

  • What are three major historical events that have affected your city?
  • What is it's major industry?
  • What are three major landmarks to visit?
  • What two things would be fun to experience there?
  • What is a neighboring town or landmark you could visit for a day?

5. Cost of Trip Slides (3 slides)

  • Select flight: cost?, etc.
  • Select hotel: describe, cost?
  • Select 2 restaurants: describe, cost?

6. Post Card Slide (1 slide)

  • Create a postcard
  • Explain in a postcard home why a person should travel there

7. Bibliography (1 slide)

  • Cite sources
  • Make sure that you use at least 16 slides.
  • Use transitions between all slides
  • Make sure that you use at least 7 clip art images and animate at least 7 slides

C. You will present the material to the class upon completion.
