Japan's Role in WWII Timeline

Task

Description

In studying Japan during the 20th Century, we will examine the causes of it's involvement and it's actual involvement in World War II. You will be responsible for researching one of ten events that led Japan to war. With a partner, you will research your event by using an outside article in addition to your textbook. You will record your research on an overhead and type your notes for the class. I will provide all class members with copies of your work. Upon completion of the presentations, you will be responsible for creating a comprehensive time line including all of the material.

Japanese Militarism and allegiance with Nazi Germany
Japanese Imperialism in South East Asia

Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Expectations

There are three parts to your project. Make sure that you complete the following:

A. Research a topic

  1. Pick a topic
  2. Write a brief summary of the event
  3. Identify three descriptive facts about the event
  4. Describe how it is an example of imperialism (Write down your research in plain and clear English)
  5. Record your research on an overhead
  6. Type your research on no more than one piece of paper (so I can photocopy it)

B. Present your topic to the class

C. Create a comprehensive time line

  1. Use butcher block paper and markers
  2. Title your time line
  3. Identify the 10 dates & label each event which took place
  4. Provide two descriptive facts about each of the 10 events
  5. Pick three dates/events and explain how each is an example of imperialism
  6. Draw a picture that symbolizes each of the 10 events
