Cary/Fox River Grove Culture Wheels

Task

Description

Culture is a way of life.  Culture is what makes you you.  Culture is what makes a society distinct from other societies.  In the past week, we have studied eight elements of culture.  You will now work in groups of three or four to demonstrate your knowledge of the eight elements of culture by applying them to Cary or Fox River Grove .  You will create a Cary or Fox River Grove Culture Wheel using examples from Cary or Fox River Grove culture.  Your job will be to identify the eight main elements of culture and then provide examples from Cary or Fox River Grove.  You will cut out pictures from magazines or newspapers which demonstrate these ideas.

Make sure that you:

  • Use butcher block paper, markers, magazines
  • Place Cary/Fox River Grove at the center of your wheel
  • Provide three examples of each of the eight elements
  • Explain each of your three examples in sentences for each of the eight elements
  • Be prepared to present your wheel to the class with your group

  • Lightest hair:  artist (designs and draws culture wheel)
  • Medium hair:  brainstorms ideas about elements, writes down descriptive sentences on paper
