Special Education Standards - High School

 

Unit: Community Experience

All of the standards below will be assessed in actual community settings.

1. The student will be able to purchase needed items at retail stores.
A. Grocery/ variety store
B. Clothing store
C. Drug store

2. The student will be able to return items to stores for refund.

3. The student will be able to utilize postal and package delivery services.
A. Post office
B. UPS

4. The student will purchase and eat a meal in a restaurant.
A. Fast food
B. Full-service restaurant

5. The student will utilize public convenience machines.
A. Pay phones
B. Vending machines
C. Copy machines

6. The student will conduct banking transactions.

7. The student will utilize public library services.
A. Use the card catalog
B. Check out materials

8. The student will use courteous behavior in community settings.

 

Unit: Using Public Transportation

1. The student will be able to arrange public transportation on Dial-a-Ride.
2. The student will ride a Dial-a-Ride bus to a desired destination.
3. The student will determine which Metra train to take to a given location.
4. The student will ride a Metra train to a desired destination.
5. The student will work in a cooperative fashion with a partner.
