Creating a Company Task

Task: To use creative skills along with teamwork to design a fictitious architectural design company.

Task overview: The students will be broken up into different architectural design companies. Each group will have to create a company name, logo, and give various information about their company and present it to the class.

Creating a Company (Student Handout)

Scenario: You are working at an architectural firm. One day your boss walks into your office and says that there is going to be a big convention in a few days for all of the architectural firms in the area. The boss explains that this is a very important convention because there is going to be thousands of possible customers there. Your boss has selected you and a few of your co-workers to do a presentation on your company at the convention. Each architectural firm at the convention gets about ten minutes to present about their company. There will be a review board at the convention center ranking each of the firms on certain mandatory criteria (criteria listed below). Your boss explains that it is very important that you and your co-workers do a great job at the convention because your salary (your grade) depends on it.

Criteria:
All presentations must include (rubic below):
- Company name, address, phone number
- Company logo, and slogan
- Number of years in business
- Employee names and specialties
- Explanation of previous designs

Presentations will also be assessed on (rubic below):
- Creativity and originality
- Visual aids
- Ability to show past work
- Team presentation
- Length of presentation
