Content Outcomes:
Process Outcomes:
Task: Create a bill of materials that covers the cost of every material that goes into building a house. Task overview: The students will analyze their floor plan to figure out how much of each material they will need to build the house. All aspects of the house will be included, such as rough carpentry, electrical, masonry, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and others. All materials will then be calculated by their cost to find a total for all materials. Bill of Materials (Student Handout) Scenario: Now that you have your bill of materials done, you realize that you have put together a bill of materials for the construction of the house. To do this, you must call around to different hardware stores and get prices on each of the materials that goes into the construction of the home. Then, using your set of blueprints, calculate all of your materials to come up with a total cost of materials. Remember to make your calculations exact because if you under calculate any items, the difference in cost will come out of your paycheck!
