In the article, "Heterosocial perceptual organization: Application of the choice model to sexual coercion," how do men's varying beliefs about women's affective expressions relate to variations in men's perceptual sensitivity of them?
Optional: In the discussion section of the article it states that "men's attitudes about rape...predict their perceptions of women's affect cues." It doesn't say that the attitudes cause their perceptions and subsequently their coercive behavior. Explain how the causal path might actually travel in the opposite direction. That is, how could variation in sensitivity and bias in men's perceptions of women's affect cues explain different attitudes in men towards rape?
