Paper Assignment 2

Paper 2 can be completed individually or in a pair. It should be typed and double-spaced.  For Paper 2, choose from one of the following options:

1) Repeat Paper Assignment 1

or

2) Find an opinion-based article in a newspaper or magazine that is relevant to social psychology in some way. Write an analysis of the article as if you were trying to explain to a friend or family member the following points:

• How is social psychology relevant to the topic of the article?

Also answer one of the following two questions:

• How are the author's main points consistent or inconsistent with research in social psychology?
• How is the author exhibiting or avoiding some judgment biases in making his/her main points?

  Note: You must turn in a copy of the article with your paper.

or

3) Identify a situation in which you could potentially change a group's attitude(s) and/or behavior(s). (For example, you could attempt to convince more NCC students to participate in the blood drive on campus.)

• Develop at least two strategies that could realistically be implemented to change the group's attitude(s) and/or behavior(s).
• Describe how your strategies are well supported by social psychology research.
• Again using research, describe one of the potential stumbling blocks to your strategies.
